Old People

Can we please do something about the old people that are littering our Fail Road cars with their presence? They do nothing but clog up the aisles, slow us down, and they are a danger to every able-bodied person on the train. If there is an emergency, they would be trampled. Also, they’d probably hurt others because half of these old bags can’t even move. Yet, they seem to have no trouble walking to their mailboxes to get their checks each month. Your welcome for that 😉

The Fail Road should implement a “65 or under” policy during rush hours. I don’t care if these old people have jobs. They are a danger. This “65 or Under” policy should state that anyone under the age of 65 is allowed on the trains during rush hours, provided they have a job in the city and are able-bodied. This also can be extended to younger people who are otherwise hindered (i.e.: limps, etc).

Call me insensitive, but the platforms at Penn and the station itself are fast-moving, potentially dangerous places for those who cannot keep up with the flow. All these people do is keep us from going where we need to go and causing needless bottlenecks because we have to wait for them to get off the steps.

STAY HOME! YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE YOU OLD BAGS! Let us go to work and contribute to our failing Social Security system so you can have something to look forward to once a month (instead of a bowel movement).

The Fail Road’s Reply To My Complaint

My complaint:
Customer (Phil….) – 08/15/2007 06:56 AM
Does anyone know why the 7:45 Jamaica-Penn “express” was held for 15
minutes today at Jamaica? The train arrived at 7:50 (5 mins late in
the real world). Just before it arrived, the 7:45 to FBA (my train
from WH) was last called and left. No announcements made about it
being late, nothing.

So the 7:45 arrives and we sheeple get on…and it sits there. After
a few minutes, we saw important looking Fail Road types with walkie
talkies squawking, shiny badges, serious looks and walking down the
platform as if their feet were stuck in gooey glue.

There was meeting of the brains around the 8th car (these serious
Fail Road types and the crew). And still, no announcement. But
wait! There’s a train on track 4! It says Penn Station! That’s the
train I wanna be on! Now there’s a steady trail of morons running
out of the train to track 4. What they didn’t notice was that it was
a “No passengers” train. I heard someone say, “maybe they’ll stop
here and help us”. HAHAHAHAAH!!! You are so naive lady. Said morons
file back into train. There were other trains that arrived like the
7:53, but by the time it was announced and I ran down the platform up
the steps (with the leadfeet) and down the steps again, I would have
missed it).

So, it’s now about 8:05, the meeting outside the train is still
ongoing. I wonder what they’re speaking about? Astrophysics, the
Mets, the Yankees, where to go for lunch?

A lady by the door then asks a collector if we’re leaving soon and he
says, “yeah, we are”. She goes, “now”? He says, “whenever we feel
like leaving” NICE!

So we finally leave, no announcement, no apology, Nothing. Tickets
weren’t even taken. If they were, there would only be shreds of the
collectors uniforms left.

Total travesty. How come there was no announcement made? How come
we were held there for so long. What was the problem?

I was 10 minutes late. While I do not punch a time card, it would be
nice to know what the problem was this time. I didn’t see any rain,
or snow. Could it have been “switch problems” or the usual shoddy
service we have come to know from the FAIL ROAD.
You have a lot of work ahead of you, Ms. Williams…..it’s been
broken since 1834.

Response (Jennifer Uihlein) – 08/28/2007 03:05 PM
Dear Mr. L:

Thank you for your e-mail. Please accept my apologies for your
dissatisfaction with the service provided on August 14, 2007. We
recognize that effective communication with our employees and
customers is essential, and on that end, we regret that we did not
meet those needs. As information, on the date you referenced, the
train scheduled to depart Jamaica at 7:45 AM and arrive at Penn
Station was delayed in Locust Manor due to an ill passenger. The
customer was removed upon arrival at Jamaica Station.

I appreciate your understanding in this matter and hope that your
future travels are more satisfactory in nature.

Sincerely,

J. Uihlein

My comment:
Next time, just tell us that the train is being delayed for whatever reason. Don’t just leave us hanging there.
Typical. What else should we expect. I bet the passenger was sick because of the shit service.

Delays again…Aug 27, AMTRAK tunnel problems

Well, looks like I picked a good day for a sick day 🙂 Apparently the lovely AMTRAK workers doing an inspection Sunday night into Monday morning in one of the East River tunnels found something wrong. That’s good, right?? They found something wrong…someone should know about it. The tunnels need to be closed, repaired, whatever those highly paid men do in those orange vests.
Well, nobody told the Fail Road in time. When asked, the only answer the Fail Road flack could give was this: “…..What time did we know about the track condition?” Charles said Monday. “All I can tell you is it was sometime after midnight . . . Sometime after midnight could mean 5 a.m., it could mean 3 a.m., it could mean 6 a.m. I don’t know the answer to that.” Check out the story here, from Newsday
What else should we expect from the Fail Road and from AMTRAK? If something bad was found, fine…shit happens, fix it…let us know who will be screwed, and move on. Then, make sure it doesn’t happen again. However, I am trying to apply logic to a governmental entity. Would it have been too much for someone to pick up a phone and say something like “ummm, we found a boo boo, no choo choos in the morning”. Maybe I’m asking too much.
Once again, the Fail Road and AMTRAK has let us down.
F-YOU FAIL ROAD!

The Fail Road Still Sucks…

Yes, it’s true.  Even after not posting since January, the Fail Road still sucks.  Nothing has been improved, nothing has been done to get me home or to work on time.  The only changes have been “better communication” to the customers.  Oh yeah, and the Fail Road has a new president. Biiiiig f’n deal.

Better communication?  My ass!  Tell that to the people who were stranded this weekend by the work at the Roslyn Road crossing in Mineola.  According to Ms. Williams, the LIRR was “blanketed” with all sorts of notifications, posters, announcements, smoke signals, messenger pigeons, yodelers, etc etc etc.  I knew about it, only because I saw the flyers on the seats a few days ago on my 7:17 out of WH.  What sense does that make?  Why tell the people who probably WON’T EVEN BE ON THE TRAINS DURING THE WEEKENDS?!
Yeah, they “blanketed” customers, BUT THEY BLANKETED THE WRONG ONES!  What else should we expect from the Fail Road anyway?  The only thing the Fail Road communicates immediately is when they will raise fares, cut service, or tell us about running extra trains on “holidays” that will be late anyway.
Way to go Fail Road.  I can’t wait for the next “communication” during our next delay on a beautiful sunny day.  SWITCH PROBLEMS!!! 🙂

Kid Hit By Train

The young boy who was hit by an LIRR train in Rego Park was tragic. It also could have been prevented.
Say what you will about the boy, his death, his family, etc etc. He was a known vandal. His parents also know about his activities. I have a hard time feeling sorry for this kid.
Since the MTA already knows he’s done this in the past, I say they send his parents the bill for cleaning up his vandalism.
The kid had it coming. He should have been home looking at porn like all the other 13 year olds.

If You Don’t Agree With What I Am Posting….

Tough shit. Start your own blog.

And, if you have something to say, don’t send me fag ass emails. Post a comment here, be a man about it. Let everyone know what you have to say. This way, they have the opportunity to respond.

And, if any of you readers don’t like the “anti-union” graphic, I will ask you this. In most normal jobs, you only get pay increases based on merit and productivity. In other words, you get more if you give more. You don’t get more for just showing up.

In the case of the Fail Road, service is getting worse exponentially. If there is a delay, you hear nothing. Or, you hear three messages, each subsequent one contradicting the previous one. Which, by the way confuses the hell out of everyone. But, the morons making the announcements or the decisions don’t give a shit because their benefits and jobs are safe. They’re also hiding behind their union. They also don’t give a shit because they don’t put up with the same crap we do year after year after year.

If they were in a “normal” job and performed this way, they’d have their asses bounced to the curb faster than they could say “What’s my severance”.

That’s all I’m gonna say.

Kalikow Says The LIRR Is “Third Best”

Yeah, so what he said that. I know I’m a bit late on this and I apologize. Here’s my .02…

Kalikow was not saying anything about the EMPLOYEES. He was looking at it strictly from a PERFORMANCE perspective. Face it, the Fail Road is what it is. They can mask/doctor/lie about their OTP numbers up to a certain point. Service sucks. And if you ride, you know what I mean.

If some employees get pissed off because Kid Kalikow hurt their feelings, maybe he’s onto something. If I had nothing to worry about, I’d pass it off as the ramblings of a rich moron and leave it at that. At the same time, his assessment of the Fail Road is a reflection of its employees. The trains and tracks don’t run or fix themselves. The employees do. And, if the riders and the guy in charge can see it as plain as day, why are the employees deluding themselves into thinking they work for a first rate operation?

I can’t tell you how many times people ask me how I get to work…and when I answer “LIRR” they wince like you answered “I have a headache”. People who don’t even take the Fail Road know what a piece of shit it is because of the horror stories.

In my opinion, Kalikow is right. Assuming he is basing his decision only on fact and measurable performance indicators, the Fail Road is an abomination. It is a pimple on the ass of NYS. It’s also what gets hundreds of thousands of people to work every day. So, we pretty much have no choice but so suck it up and deal with it…

I have also read/heard some Fail Road employees complaining there’s too much management involved. That the managers screw things up and there’s too much interference. Well, management only does so much. Why don’t you morons show some balls and call them out on their bad practices? Oh yeah, I forgot, you don’t want to “rock the boat” since the only reason you work there is for the pension and benefits….

The Fail Road is run by a bunch of morons. There’s no way around it. The management may be pretty bad but the employees are also at fault. Just accept status quo. It’s really hard accepting that pay raise when you do THE SAME JOB for 20 years….

If you don’t like what I say here, tough shit. This is my fucking blog.

In case you’re wondering, the graphic to the right says, “UNIONS SUCK IF YOU DON’T LIKE YOUR JOB GO GET AN EDUCATION”

Time for a Rant….

I wish I knew what was going through certain people’s little pea-brains when they stand in the middle of the goddamn platform to chit-chat or use their cellphone or whatever.

The goddamn phone will not get a signal if you walk slower or stare at the damn thing like a mental patient. And why can’t you ass wipes walk and talk on those damn things at the same time. Is it too mentally taxing? I’m afraid to see what happens if these morons are chewing gum while they’re walking and their cell rings. I bet they’d be confused.

And with the chit-chat…WAIT UNTIL YOU GET UPSTAIRS!!!! Whatever you have to say can wait until you go upstairs so that you do not impede traffic. Total inconsideration.

And don’t even get me started with kids and strollers…that’s for another rant.
